Weight Loss Hypnosis
When you have tried the physical side of trying to lose weight but have not had much in the way of success, there is another alternative that is worth considering. This is weight loss hypnosis which has been found in surveys to be one of the best forms of alternative therapy, in terms of success rates to lose weight. So how does this kind of weight loss therapy work? And how effective is it really? Let's look at this and see how it may be able to help you.
The first thing you will notice about this form of weight loss strategy is that there are no prescribed diets or exercise routines that have to be done in conjunction with it. It works purely on the body by using the power of the mind to bring about the desired change. This is done with what are known as post hypnotic suggestions. These are simple statements that are delivered by the hypnotherapist during the time the client is in the relaxed state of hypnosis. It is these suggestions, which are positive affirmations and directions for well being only, that act on the client's subconscious while they are in the normal waking state to cause several things to happen, which bring about the loss of weight. These things are:
- The reduction in the physical need to eat, or to eat less than usual
- The increased desire to do more physical activity (and not sit around doing nothing)
- The physical boosting of the digestive system and metabolic rate
- The feeling of positive expectation of success
- In some cases, aversion to certain high calorie, fat laden or sweet foods
The actual suggestions and their wording will be unique to the hypnotherapist, but will follow similar lines to those above although they will differ from therapist to therapist. When combined, the above positive suggestions will create a situation where the client must lose weight through their own actions, as they will not feel like sitting around watching TV or living a sedentary lifestyle but instead feel more like doing activities that get their bodies moving. They will also find that the suggestions can also help them to reduce stress, which is a helpful by-product of the therapy. Whether they actually want to engage in physical exercise may or may not happen, as that will depend upon the normal desires of the client, but they will certainly feel more energetic than before.
They will eat less and feel more like avoiding the high calorie snacks and bad foods that got them overweight in the first place. Some therapists even go so far as to include suggestions to the tune of getting the clients to prefer to eat fresh fruit in place of cakes, cookies etc.
As to the ability of subconscious suggestions to physically boost the metabolic rate, this may sound incredible but it really does work. The digestive system is controlled by the subconscious mind, meaning that you really have no conscious control over what your digestive system is doing. If you did, you would spend all your time getting food through your body and have no time to think about anything else! So the subconscious, when primed with simple suggestions that it can make the metabolism run faster, will do just that.
Above all, the most important of all suggestions are those that instil a feeling of positivism in the client that they will succeed at losing weight. This sets up a chain reaction of subconscious patterns that make all the other post hypnotic suggestions stronger and act in a more powerful way to create a body that deals with food more efficiently while the person eats less, wants to exercise more and feels good, positive and highly motivated to succeed. This is a recipe for true success and is quite amazing to witness first hand in people who, prior to visiting my own practice, were convinced they'd never lose any weight, then going on to lose an unbelievable amount to regain their correct weight and enjoy a vast improvement ion health and vitality.
